About the Bitaxe Gamma
The Bitaxe Gamma is an open-source, single-ASIC home miner built around the Bitmain BM1370 — the same chip family found in Bitmain's flagship S21 series. Rather than cramming hundreds of chips into one box, the Gamma runs a single chip, trading raw hashrate for low power draw and a noise profile that actually survives in a home office. It's aimed at hobbyists who want to solo mine SHA-256 coins without dedicating a garage, soundproofing a closet, or explaining a 30-amp circuit to their landlord.
At around 1.2 TH/s and 15 watts, the Gamma is a fraction of a percent of a current industrial Antminer's hashrate, but it draws well under 1% of the power. Efficiency lands near 12.5 J/TH — right in the same neighborhood as those big industrial units, because it's literally running the same chip class. On a typical home electricity rate of $0.12/kWh, running the Gamma 24/7 costs roughly $1.30 per month.
